All About Cholesterol And Vitamin D | What You Need To Know!

Cholesterol 101

Although its received a bad name as of late, Cholesterol is actually essential for good health.  Now, before you go grabbing for the bacon and eggs, let me explain.  Cholesterol is a powerful substance that can be found in almost all the cells of the human body.  In fact, it’s safe to say that Cholesterol is one of the most important substances in the human body.  It’s responsible for the synthesizing of all your sex hormones, as well as adrenal hormones!  Your body, more specifically your liver, creates its own Cholesterol needed for day to day bodily functions.  This is why taking Cholesterol lowering drugs is a terrible idea.  Stop putting “band aids” on your health!

Furthermore, many promoting an meat diet or milk products will often bring the accusation up that plant foods do not contain Cholesterol.  There was a big push in recent years of Cholesterol being able to reverse heart disease.  The Atkins Diet was made famous for this.  Eat all the animals products you want; bacon, eggs, and steak and you will get healthy!  However, they almost always leave out the key fact that your body manufactures its own Cholesterol.  Again, this is a band aid fix.  I like getting to the root of a problem.  If the body is more than capable at producing the necessary Cholesterol for hormone production, what does that tell us about the diet we should be eating?  That being said, I do not promote or agree with vegan diet(s).  In my experience, these diet(s) are extremely dangerous long term and nothing more than a science experiment on the public.  However, I believe we should be aware of where our food is coming from.

The Importance Of Vitamin D

Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of magnesium, calcium, phosphate, iron, and zinc. The Sun should be your primary source of Vitamin D.  Low Vitamin D levels are often associated with depression, anxiety, fatigue,  exhaustion, and lack of motivation.  If Vitamin D levels are low, key minerals such as the ones mentioned will not be able to be absorbed.  Minerals are what make you go!  It’s not the calories you need to be healthy, but the minerals!

Those who are older and are deficient in vitamin D are at risk of Osteoporosis.  Again, Vitamin D is needed for the absorption of calcium.  If you can’t absorb calcium, then your risk of broken bones and bone degeneration go up.  Silica and magnesium also play a role in bone health but calcium is important as well.  And stop thinking diary when you hear the word calcium.  Greens, such as dandelions, kale, spinach, and red leaf lettuce are chuck full of calcium and do not contain allergens.

How Cholesterol and Vitamin D Work Together

As mentioned before, Cholesterol is needed in order to synthesis Vitamin D.  If your not producing the necessary Cholesterol needed for bodily processes, sun exposure will have little to no effect. Remember, your sex hormones, as well as adrenal hormones are dependent on Vitamin D.  Lack of production of these key hormones leads to a whole host of health problems.  In fact, these hormones are mandatory if you wish to achieve optimal health.  So, how do you get your body to produce the necessary Cholesterol?

How Your Liver Is Connected

Your liver is the manufacturing house of Cholesterol. If your liver is not healthy, guess what?  You will not be making the appropriate Cholesterol needed for numerous bodily functions.  This is why eating a healthy diet and taking adaptogenic/detoxing herbs is mandatory in today’s world.  I cover diet, herbs, and regeneration in my eBook: The Stress Free Diet: Regenerating The Adrenals With Natural Foods And Herbs

That being said, instead of throwing a “band aid” on the problem, why not clean up your act (or liver) so that you can produce the necessary hormones your body needs to be healthy!  We literally need to get out of the way sometimes and just let the body do its thing!  The body is more then capable of regenerating itself.  In fact, the best way to do this is to stop eating and FAST!  When we stop eating, we allow our body to refocus its energy to “repair” rather than “digestion.”  You can also take some Dandelion Root which is a great for liver detoxification and regeneration.  Try combining Dandelion Root and Milk Thistle for powerful liver detoxification.
